NEED A SPEAKER?

Susan G. Komen for the Cure believes in empowering women by providing reliable breast health information so they can take charge of their health.  To help make that happen, Komen Tyler Affiliate board members and volunteers are available to speak to community groups, corporate organizations and schools.  For health-related events, such as health fairs, we are happy to set up a display and provide a wide variety of breast health information and materials.  These services are all provided to you at no cost as part of our mission to spread the life-saving message of early detection to the community.

Our Speakers Bureau is available to present to your organization or group a wide range of breast cancer and breast health issues, including the importance of breast self-examination techniques.  Most of our speakers are breast cancer survivors or medical professionals and lend their personal experiences to the presentation.

An alternative to a speaker is Hats Off to Breast Health. This is a fun, interactive and educational skit for general audiences.  It is designed to expose some of the common myths and misconceptions about breast cancer. It is based on the fact that everyday, women wear "different hats“ mother, wife or partner, daughter, employee, student, friend, homemaker, grandmother - and most of the time more than one. This presentation discusses how some "hats" women wear may affect their chances of surviving breast cancer. Hats Off to Breast Health has also been adapted to educate and to reach out to teenage girls.
